Have you ever heard of a photographer’s bucket list? Well, this session checked off a few from my list. I have always dreamt of photographing an expectant mother draped in a Girl and a Serious Dream lace robe. I guess you could have said I was just a girl with some serious dreams :) I have always dreamt of photographing a growing family on the steps of the NY Public Library. Thank you Fran and Sam for fulfilling my photography dreams and thank you NYC weather for actually cooperating for it. I loved Sam’s little compliments during the morning session and how they adoringly looked at each other on the steps of the library with a thousand other people around. I can’t wait to photograph you and your plus one for your newborn photography session.
While the majority of my portrait sessions take place in NY and NJ, this year I have multiple shoots in the beautiful state of Connecticut. I can’t say I am disappointed at all. The first of my CT portrait sessions is a family I have had the pleasure of photographing twice before. Once for their first maternity session in NJ and, again, when their daughter was half a year old. It is always such a treat to work with them. Yes, their style is always on point, but more importantly they are the kindest and most welcoming family. I loved getting to document Pia’s continuing love for her dog, Bear.
I hope you enjoy viewing their second maternity sessions as much as I loved photographing it. I can’t wait to meet their little one later this year for a coastal Connecticut family session.

Whew... I didn't think this would be as hard as my best of 2017 weddings recap. But it was. Just when I thought I had it narrowed down, I would see another photo and go "awww but look at how cute that photo is too". While the title of this post states it is my best newborn and family photos from 2017, it really is just a very small set of my best. Every family I worked with this year had a story worth telling and they all had one thing in common. That one thing was a whole lot of love for their family. I am so thankful to each and every family that I worked with to document a special day and time in their lives. Wishing lots of health and happiness to this special group in 2018.
