I feel like these posts are starting to turn into an elevator conversation... where the topic of weather always pops up at some point during your short ride. But this is always a topic at some point during wedding planning. Countless hours are spent hoping and praying to the weather gods for a day without rain. Up until the day before my own wedding it was supposed to thunderstorm ALL day, but then the morning of our wedding the forecast showed nothing but the smiling sun symbol and temperatures heading into the 90's. It was as far from rain as you could get. I remember stepping into my gown with the AC blasting me and then stepping out into my backyard oven for some portraits. And that was the last minute that I thought about the heat, humidity and sweltering sun. It was our wedding day.
Lauren & Pete's wedding day at the Upper Montclair Country Club was exactly this... hot, humid and sunny. More importantly, it was THEIR day. This is one of my favorite portraits for that reason. Even though we may have been doing portraits on one of the hottest days of the year, they were beyond happy to be hand in hand as husband and wife. No rain, wind, heat or snow could have stopped them from living in their present happiness. And this is why I fall in love with couples like Lauren & Pete and this is why I love weddings. If you sweep the little obstacles aside that may pop up on your wedding day, it will be one of the happiest days of your life.
