There is something about heading out the door before the sun rises that gets me excited. It could be the fact that I know I will be able to drive without having to hit the break every two seconds. It could also be due to a feeling of peacefulness of empty streets. The one thing that I know excites me is seeing an east coast sunrise behind the Manhattan skyline and knowing that an entire beautiful day is in front of me. Elise and Sal’s engagement session was the first one that I have shot before 8am and it was worth every ounce of energy I used to stop myself from dragging the snooze slider on my 4:45am alarm. The park was quiet, except for the occasional running group and dog whose excitement to run free could easily match my own excitement for an engagement session at that same hour. The terrace was beautifully lit and was made even more spectacular by the presence of Elise and Sal.
The same weekend of their engagement, they celebrated 10 years together. Their relationship officially began on AIM, a communication method that gave many of us the hidden courage to be who we wanted to be. And Sal wanted to be Elise’s boyfriend. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a speech at their wedding that features lots of LOL’s, OMG’s and ROFL’s. After many memorable years together, Sal asked Elise to be his wife at a landmark NYC hotel. To share their engagement with their friends, they pieced together video clips from the past 10 years together. These little video (of course) brought me to tears and is just another reason why I love being a wedding photographer! I am so lucky to have met these two.
